The Cure Messages
Drug commercials fill the airwaves. There is a Pharmacy on every
corner. Our society is always looking for the next cure. Pharmaceutical
companies spend billions and billions of dollars each year looking for
a drug, a pill, or something to cure us from what ales us.
While the hope for a new chemical or remedy to cure our physical
problems is a worthy and important pursuit, with the same urgency as
Christ-followers we need to look for what can often ale our spiritual
life. Those who claim Christ can often slip into a "common
Christianity" with symptoms of apathy, legalism, and a 'sit and soak'
attitude.
In the New Testament book of James, the half-brother of Jesus wrote to
the early church challenging actions of their everyday lives. Just as
relevant 2000 years later, the book of James provides the cure for each
and every Christ-follower. If followed, the word of James are a
prescription for every Christian to discover a vibrant, life-giving
faith that will shout to the world the glory of God.
